I know Expat, You Want a Cool Backpack.

Read before you spend your money.

Selecting a backpack for a mission is not easy as there are so many cool options with great level of difference in pricing. But here are some tips which can make your choice easier.  When you want to choose a backpack for your travels, you need to think about the following:

1. Size Matters: You need to get a right size of backpack. If you are a short person, do not get a large backpack. You will hurt yourself.  You need to be comfortable carrying your backpack and buy the right size.

2. Design does matter: You need to examine the features of the backpack and make sure that it will satisfy your needs.  I would avoid backpacks which have a lot of pockets in front of them. Mainly it allows thieves to access your backpack easier.

3. Get a rain cover: Your backpack may come with a rain cover. Some models come with it. This not only protects your bag during transport but also makes it easier for you to spot your bag on the conveyer belt in Baggage Claim.  Thousands of travelers lose their luggage annually. You definitely do not want to be the Expat who shows up to the field or on your travels with no backpack or luggage.

4. Do not buy something that is too flashy. If you will be working in the field. You are only attracting attention by having fancy gear.
